Negotiation happens far beyond boardrooms and major deals. People negotiate regularly in professional and everyday situations.
This workshop introduces the basic types and phases of negotiation and the skills needed to negotiate successfully. Participants explore preparation, bargaining, mutual gain, consensus-building and approaches for handling difficult issues while maintaining an atmosphere of respect.
Workshop Objectives
- Understand the basic types and phases of negotiations and the skills needed for successful negotiating
- Understand and apply WATNA, BATNA, WAP and ZOPA
- Lay the groundwork for negotiation
- Identify what information to share and what to keep to yourself
- Understand basic bargaining techniques
- Apply strategies for identifying mutual gain
- Understand how to reach consensus and set the terms of the agreement
- Deal with personal attacks and other complex issues
- Use the negotiating process to solve everyday problems
- Negotiate on behalf of someone else
